Some common issues can be sorted in a few minutes. Have a look below before you log a request, it may save you the wait.
Contact Vector Gas faults on 0800 764 764 first to check if there's an outage. For a gas hot water system, check the pilot light is on and relight it using the instructions on the unit. You can also adjust the water temperature, this is usually covered in the same instructions.
If a plunger won't shift the blockage, try a drain cleaner such as Drano, following the instructions carefully as it's corrosive. Wear gloves and keep the room well ventilated. In many bathroom sinks and showers the drain cover lifts out, which makes it easier to clear the blockage by hand.
Contact your local water supplier to check for a fault or to report a roadside leak, they can also help you check for a leak if you've had an unusually high bill. In Auckland, call Watercare on 09 442 2222.
Contact your electricity supplier first to check for a fault or to see if the ripple relay was switched off overnight. In Auckland, Manukau and Papakura, call Vector faults on 0508 832 867; on the North Shore, Waitākere and Rodney, use the number on your power bill. Check the fuses and safety switch in the meter box, if the safety switch has tripped, reset it. If it trips again, turn off all power points, unplug appliances and plug them back in one at a time to find the faulty one. If it's your appliance you'll need to arrange the repair; if it belongs to the property, log a request with us.
